A Victorian Gem in the Heart of Keswick
Nestled just a five-minute walk from Keswick town center, Glencoe Guest House is a beautifully preserved Victorian home that has been welcoming visitors to the Lake District for generations. Our guest house retains its original architectural charm with features like high ceilings, ornate fireplaces, and large bay windows that flood the rooms with natural light. We’ve carefully modernized the property to offer contemporary comforts while maintaining its historic character, creating a unique blend of old-world elegance and modern convenience. Ben & Fiona Goodman
Fiona & Ben are both outdoor enthusiast who has spent decades exploring every corner of the Lake District, Ben & Fiona and their two boys are often out exploring. Fiona and Ben have completed the Wainwrights and Ben has completed ultra marathons including the Windermere Lap takes great pride in sharing his insider knowledge with our guests. Our personal touch extends beyond just advice – we provide practical amenities like free flask filling for your hikes, secure cycle storage, and even homemade cake to welcome you after a day of adventure. What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 4:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM. If you require alternative times, please contact us in advance to arrange.
Are children welcome at Glencoe?
We warmly welcome children aged 8+. Due to our Victorian layout, we cannot accommodate younger guests or provide cots.
What’s included in your breakfast?
Enjoy full English, vegetarian, and lighter options, all using local produce. Special diets are accommodated with prior notice.
How dog-friendly is your accommodation?
Glencoe Guest House allows well behaved small/medium breed dogs in most of its bedrooms. Dog towels are available to dry your dog and we can also supply dog throws for the beds, so you don’t have to fill the car with all the extra baggage. There is also ‘doggy treats’ always on offer in the entrance hallway so feel free to help yourselves. Our dining room is dog friendly so there is no need to leave your dog unattended at breakfast time. We only ask your dog is kept on a lead whilst in there.
Rest assured that our bedrooms are cleaned to a very high standard so if you’re not a dog person you won’t even know there’s been one in the room!
Dogs can stay at Glencoe Guest House for £9.50 per night per dog. Book online and add in your dog as an ‘extra’. Please call for more information.
Also, don’t worry if you haven’t got a dog of your own, our Dexter will be around for cuddles from all of our guests
How close are you to Keswick centre?
We’re 5 minutes’ walk from Market Square—close enough for convenience but peacefully located on a quiet residential street.
Do you accept group bookings?
We have 5 rooms (max 10 guests). Whole-house bookings sometimes available—contact us directly to discuss options for family gatherings.
Is there parking available?
Parking at Glencoe Guest House is free and unrestricted on street parking. If parking on the street, please be considerate to other road users and properties. Please avoid parking too close to corners and do make sure not to park in front of drop kerbs. If unsure on the day, please just ask.
If you prefer to use a secure off street car park then the nearest car park is less than a 2 minutes’ walk away.
This car park is located on Skiddaw Street. The price for this car park is currently £15 for three days, or £25 for a full week.
All permits can be purchased using the RingGo parking app or through the RingGo website www.myringgo.co.uk
There are also charging points for electric vehicles.
On the RingGo website type in Skiddaw street parking and select the 41158 option.
Checkin & Checkout
Check-in at Glencoe Guest House is from 4:00 PM onwards, allowing you time to settle in and relax. If you need an earlier check-in, please let us know in advance. Checkout is by 1o:00 AM on the day of departure. If you wish to extend your stay, please inquire about availability. We strive to make your arrival and departure as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Cancellation Policy
For any cancellation (including family illness, bad weather, petrol strikes etc), you are liable for the cost of the first night’s stay. For cancellations made within 14 days of the date of arrival or by failing to take up the booking without cancelling, regretfully you are liable for the total value of the booking. For this reason, you may wish to take out cancellation insurance, which is inexpensive and can be obtained from any good broker.
